It's that time of year again ~ Summer Solstice approaching and many things happening.
We are pleased to announce we have an absolutely AMAZING location for our R.E.D. Community Garden this year in Talent. Even though we are running a little late, we WILL be planting this coming weekend--Sunday, June 16 from 10 a.m. until we are done. If you are interesting in getting involved in the garden, please email us back and we'll let you know the address. In honor of the Summer Solstice, World Peace and Prayer Day and our Elder/Youth Conference planning, we'll be hosting a Social on Friday, June 21, 5:30 p.m. in the SOU Student Family Housing Community Room, 1361 Quincy St., Ashland. Please bring a potluck dish if you can and help us celebrate the Solstice and prepare for our Elder/Youth Conference.
And for the grand finale of June, the Elder/Youth Conference will take place June 26-29:

Joining with Grandma Aggie's 20th Annual Salmon Feast and Gathering (June 28-30)
On the Rogue River at Tilomikh (Powerhouse Falls), upstream from Gold Hill, 1275 Upper River Road.
Please join us and camp out at this wonderful event for children and families, to be immersed in Native American culture, learning traditional life ways and spirituality in natural setting. Our community is welcomed to attend, the Conference is free of charge--it is our giveaway to our people.
Teachings will include kayaking and other water skills, plant and herb ecology, river ecology, canoe teachings, basketry, lifestyles of food and protection with the use of hunting/gathering tools, the use and practice of living with spears and shields,history of the river monument that will be dedicated at the gathering in honor of Grandma Aggie and her ancestors, stickball gaming, flint-napping, food as medicine for the health of our families, lodge etiquette and building, and much more. We will feature an evening of storytelling with Solidod, Apache, who is traveling from Florida as our special elder guest.
Conference will end on the Salmon Feast day (Saturday), joining camps with Grandma Aggie's Salmon Gathering.
