R.E.D.'s Community Garden is PLANTED and GROWING!
Red Earth Descendants invites you to participate in our community garden once again this year. After a hugely successful harvest last year, we are inspired to keep growing the "Three Sisters" (corn, beans and squash) together. We will use this spot on our website to keep you updated about work parties, ways you can help, who to contact if you have questions, etc..
Currently, we are setting Tuesday late afternoons (5:30-ish) as work days. The next work party is set for Tuesday, June 15 at 5:30 p.m.. We have the corn and beans coming up, and all the squash has been planted in these first weeks of June. From this point on, we will need help weeding the mounds and watering. For directions to the garden site, please call 201-8101 or 708-1163.
Thank you to Rhianna, Wylie, Abby, David, Zac, Jaimie, Trisha and Didar for helping to finish the planting today (6-8-10). The mounding looks healthy and the mulching with cardboard and compost worked GREAT!
With help from the community, we look forward to another abundant crop and the inspiration it gives to promote good health within our community.
