Native Americans Studies at SOU in Collaboration with Local Groups Offer Vaccine Clinics

SOU Native American Program to co-host vaccination clinics

Southern Oregon University’s Native American Program is partnering with the local Natives of One Wind Indigenous Alliance to offer free COVID-19 vaccination clinics in February and March for anyone 5 years of age or older, and currently eligible for shots or boosters. There will even be free dinners for participants.

The clinics will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 11, and again on Friday, March 11, in Parking Lot 36, across South Mountain Avenue from the SOU Music Building.

FREE Covid-19 Vaccine Clinic

Native American Studies at Southern Oregon University and Natives of One Wind Indigenous Alliance, in collaboration with SOU Youth Programs, NASU, Unete, Red Earth Descendants and Southern Oregon Indian Education, are hosting this pop-up vaccine clinic!

When: February 11 and a repeat for 2nd shots on March 11, 2022
Where: SOU Student Parking Lot 36 on South Mountain Ave., Ashland, OR (clinic will be in heated tents in the parking lot).

Food boxes, gift bags, fun stuff for kids, and a free dinner with a vaccine!

Please see link below for Part 2 of the beautiful write-up by local researcher and writer Peter Finkle about the "We Are Here" event spanning back to 2006, when the We Are Here sculpture was unveiled in ceremony to the town, with the blessing of Grandma Aggie and of course the extraordinary carving skills of Russell Beebe. Part 2 brings us through the making of the bronze replica by artist Jack Langford, and how the bronze sculpture replaced Russell's wooden one downtown.
